Turning to New Pastures
Good pasture management is an essential part of farming which can make a big difference to farm profitability. It is not, however, an easy skill to master. There are many factors involved and they are consistently changing. Whether developing new pastures or managing existing pastures on either large or small properties, a newly updated course on Pasture Management by ACS Distance Education has all the answers you need. It assesses the usefulness of natural grasses and ways to improve pasture by the planting of special grasses and legumes. Students learn not only how to how to recognise different grasses but also how to distinguish between desirable and undesirable plants through knowing the grazing habits of stock. Also discussed are native grasslands, weed control, and different seed mixes.
