LAS VEGAS LANDSCAPES
Las Vegas is an experience in the unexpected for most who visit. Some like it, others don’t; but most find it different to what they imagined. The town of Las Vegas is much more than a town; and more than just gambling. The population is now over a million people, sustained by massive reserves of underground water that are fed by melting snows from the surrounding mountains. In fact, for most of the year, while it can be very hot in Las Vegas, you can be looking at snow-capped mountains on the horizon.
Along with the elaborate buildings the various resorts also contain some of the most spectacular and grand gardens you will find anywhere. The landscapes are certainly worth a day’s viewing, but if you’re more into plants than glitz and glamour, you may find the desert worth more time on subsequent days in Vegas. Located less than an hour from the Las Vegas strip, Red Rock Canyon National Park is a fascinating place where you can see cacti and other desert plants in the wild. It also has a great tourist centre with labelled plants surrounding the main building.
